More snow on the way, storm warning in effect

Snow could fall as low as 1500 feet starting this afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

Snow showers could continue through Tuesday evening. Eight to ten inches of snow is expected above 3000 feet and more than two feet of snow is predicted above 7000 feet by Tuesday night.

A winter storm warning will be in effect from 4 p.m. today through Tuesday night. Winds are expected to gust at up to 70 miles per hour in the mountain passes tonight, creating hazardous traveling conditions.

The warning advised motorists to slow down and allow extra time when traveling. Travelers were asked to keep food, water and an extra flashlight in their vehicles.
