More cold fronts coming

Another round of strong weather fronts much like the ones that have struck the last two weeks will move into western Nevada County Wednesday afternoon and evening according to the National Weather Service in Sacramento.

More fronts with cold air and snow are expected to follow through the weekend and perhaps linger to the beginning of next week. The first front could bring mixed rain and snow Wednesday afternoon and evening, with gusty winds and colder temperatures moving in after nightfall.

Thursday should bring a mix of sun and clouds before a second, colder front moves in that night with an expected snow fall of 2 inches for Grass Valley. That system is expected to linger into Friday morning and could also bring periodic thundershowers to the foothills with heavy snow at the higher elevations throughout the day.

Yet a third system is expected Friday night which could drop snow levels to 1,000 feet. It will also bring the possibility of thundershowers with hail and strong winds through Saturday afternoon.

There will also be a chance of snow showers through the weekend, with a possible break Monday and another potential cold system hitting Tuesday.
