Money spent in Iraq could be invested in our future

My concerns deepen for our nation when I read that yet again our schools are bracing for more budget cuts. Additional state and federal cuts are going to affect the services that working families need and depend on. My kids do not have money for college, and a quarter of my income goes for health insurance. Our national debt is skyrocketing.

There is a direct relationship between this war and the state of our economy. A prosperous society cannot flourish in a military economy that bankrupts our society and steals from our children’s future for a war that was engaged in under false pretenses. This war has caused suffering and death to millions of Iraqi civilians, as well as thousands of our brave, self-sacrificing American military members and their families.

I wonder why there is no mention among the candidates about the cost of the war in Iraq. House Speaker Pelozi reports the cost is more than $338 million a day. That is a lot of money that could better be invested in our future.
