Mildred Snell

Funeral services for Mildred Belle Snell of Grass Valley will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Snell died Sunday, Jan. 27, in Grass Valley. She was 90.



She was born June 15, 1911, in New Bloomfield, Mo., to Edward L. and Kittie Bowman. She completed high school. On June 15, 1932, in Raton, N.M., she married Clyde Snell, and they moved to Grass Valley in 1939.




She retired from Dewitt State Hospital in Auburn, where she worked as food service supervisor for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and watching professional baseball.

She is survived by her son, Glen Snell, of Fair Oaks; sisters Doris Weichhand of Grass Valley and Mabel Cullum of Macon, Mo; grandchildren Sandra and Ken Snell of Sacramento; nieces Karen Weichhand of Grass Valley, Janice Cooper and Cathy Nicosia, both of Hannibal, Mo., and Emily and Helen Snell, both of Alma, Colo.; nephews Brian Osborne, Neil Gottman, David Gottman, all of Hannibal, and Erik Swanson of Alma.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Snell, in 1984; brothers Cecil and Finis Bowman, and sister Louise Osborne, all of Hannibal and Alma.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are by Hooper and Weaver.
