Mildred Porterfield

Graveside services for Mildred L. Porterfield of Grass Valley will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Rough and Ready Cemetery.

Mrs. Porterfield died Tuesday, Dec. 17, after a long illness. She was 78.

She was born on Dec. 19, 1923, in San Jose, to Harry F. and Mary Davis. She married Walter M. “Curly” Porterfield on June 30, 1943, in Marysville. They moved to Nevada County in 1945. She was a homemaker and a member of the Farm’s Market growers. She enjoyed gardening, poetry, quilting and animals.



She is survived by her daughter, Donna S. de Quillettes of Fairfield; granddaughter, Lori K. Guimarin of Grass Valley; grandsons, Michael D. Peterson of Port Orchard, Wash. and Jeffrey S. Peterson of Nevada City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Porterfield, in 1997.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
