Michael Romin

Services for Michael Maynard Romin of Grass Valley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.

Mr. Romin died Tuesday, March 14, in Grass Valley. He was 88.

He was born Sept. 5, 1917, in Detroit, Mich., to Stephen and Anna Romin. He served in the U.S. Army serving in the Battle of the Bulge Arena in Europe during World War II. He married Olga Ozick on Nov. 15, 1945. He attended college, and was a master bookbinder. He was a member of the Foresters Fraternal Organization. He enjoyed his family, the outdoors, fishing, and Michigan State Football.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Lyn Romin of Aruba; daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Dana Kehler of Encinitas, and Linette and Jim Self of Grass Valley; grandsons Sean Romin, Devin Romin, Travis Kehler, Brandon Self, and Chad Self; granddaughter, Coral Jordan; and step-grandsons Joe Albano, and Tim Albano. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olga Romin in 2002.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
