Michael reagan’s diatribes getting old

I must thank Michael Reagan’s screed on the Second Amendment decision for reminding me what’s wrong with political discourse in this country.

While thoughtful politicians of every stripe decry the gridlock intrinsic to our polarized parties, we have Mr. Reagan’s contribution.

Without touching the issue of gun control, let’s look at his language.

Liberals hate guns, hate cars and got a well-deserved lesson supplemented with spit in their faces. Then he cited Draconian gun laws, elitist gun-grabbers and fanatics.

Perhaps such language endears Mr. Reagan to some conservatives, but I suspect that even they must be getting tired of his overripe rhetoric.

It’s about time to replace diatribe with thoughtful discourse, whether it comes from the right or the left.
