Michael Newark

Michael Andrew Newark died Sept. 21, in Grass Valley. He was 58.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at St. Canice Catholic Church in Nevada City, Calif.

He was born Feb. 1, 1952, in National City, Calif., to Robert and Margaret Newark.



Mr. Newark worked for more than 20 years as a machinist in several cities.

He was a member Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, and he enjoyed motorcycle riding.




Mr. Newark is survived by his son, Andrew (Michele) Newark, granddaughter, Andi Marie Newark, and grandson, Hase Newark; all of Norwood, Mo.; father, Robert Newark of Nevada City.; sisters, Catherine Quaid of Carlsbad, Calif., Nancy Newark of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Mary Newark of Grass Valley; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Newark, in 2005.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to cancer research.

Arrangements are by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
