Menlo Macfarlane presents ‘Arttalk’

Grass Valley artist Menlo Macfarlane will present an “Arttalk” Saturday at Julie Baker Fine Art gallery in downtown Grass Valley.

Works of Macfarlane and Sacramento artist Jack Alvarez are featured through March 13 in the gallery’s “Storytellers” exhibit. On Saturday, Macfarlane will discuss his works in the show, including “Degroot and Friends in a Field of Truffles,” “Otto from the Jason the Fish series” and “Sean Penn and the Order of the Amputated hand.” Macfarlane uses reappearing characters depicted in a theatrical display of texture, line, color and descending values of light.

The “Arttalk” is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Seating is limited, but space can be reserved by calling the gallery at 273-0910. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and by appointment. Julie Baker Fine Art is at 120 N. Auburn St., Suite 100.
