Meagher touts bipartisan endorsements

Submitted to The Union by the Dai Meagher for Treasurer-Tax Collector Campaign

Former Nevada County Supervisors Jim Weir and Rene Antonson have endorsed Certified Public Accountant Dai Meagher for County Treasurer.

“Dai Meagher has support from the left, from the right, and most of it from right down the middle. He is a CPA who owes no allegiance to special interests but only to the public. That’s who I want as Treasurer,” declared Jim Weir, a Democrat who represented District 3 residents on the Board of Supervisors from 1986 to 1994.

“As a former Nevada County Supervisor, I know full well the importance of electing a County Treasurer who is not indebted to any other branch of County government,” continued Weir. “Dai Meagher has spent a lot of time getting ordinary citizens to support him, while his opponent has received the endorsement of the current Board of Supervisors. This is the worst form of political obligation, getting the endorsement of those over whom you are supposed to be a watchdog.”

“I’m proud to endorse Dai Meagher for County Treasurer,” said Rene Antonson, a Republican who represented the 4th Supervisorial District from 1994 to 1998. “Nevada County taxpayers can trust Dai to safeguard our Treasury.”

A Certified Public Accountant, Meagher received the highest number of votes for the Office of County Treasurer in the June Primary election.
