McClintock just doesn’t get it
Congressman Tom McClintock has the audacity to say the government that gave us $400 hammers can’t be trusted to run a health care insurance system.
So, who’s benefiting from $400 hammers? It’s government contractors, not the government itself! They’re the ones, in collusion with their elected associates, who are ripping off taxpayer money.
A system endemic with lack of oversight, corrupt lobbyists and self-serving politicians all contribute to the free-for-all. Do Halliburton, KBR, and Blackwater ring a bell? These companies profited significantly by acquiring no-bid contracts, despite obvious conflicts of interest.
So, Tom is concerned about the $400 hammer. That’s a very interesting statement coming from a man who took over $300,000 (tax free) in per diem payments. You may recall he took advantage of a loophole that allowed him to get per diem by claiming to live in Thousand Oaks when he was actually in Elk Grove. Tom shamelessly used the system for his own self-aggrandizement, just like the people he’s inadvertently and unwittingly accusing.
Sorry Tom, you’re argument doesn’t hold water. Reform and strict oversight are needed in all areas of government spending, including a government sponsored health care insurance system. Unfortunately, you don’t seem to get it.
