Mary Suydam

Mary Hermine Suhr Suydam of Truckee died Wednesday, Oct. 16. She was 84.

Her family will hold a private celebration of her life and spirit.

Mrs. Suydam was born Jan. 18, 1918, in West Palm Beach, Fla., to Max and Anna Overman Suhr.



She attended Florida State College for Women in Lake Worth, and had a master’s degree in library sciences from Florida State University in Tallahassee.

She was married to George William Suydam from 1943 to 1956. She lived in California for 50 years, 30 in the Bay Area and 20 in the Lake Tahoe area.




Mrs. Suydam is survived by daughters Louise Caulfield of Nevada City and Anne Lewis of St. Louis; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions are preferred to Friends of the Library, Kings Beach Branch Library, Kings Beach, CA 96143.
