Mary Cohan

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Cohan, 85, of Grass Valley died Tuesday, April 12, in Grass Valley.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services.

Mrs. Cohan was born Sept. 26, 1919, in Willows to John and Mary M. (Ryan) Pierce. She graduated from Holy Names High School and Holy Names College in Oakland. She married Edward P. Cohan on Oct. 27, 1941, in Oakland. She was a homemaker.



She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Virginia Ryan of Santa Rosa; sister-in-law, Dorothea Kaitz of Moraga; children Kathy Driscoll of Redwood City and Maureen Trumble and Pat Cohan, both of Nevada City; grandchildren Katey, Mike, Erin, Sean and Michael; and great-grandchildren Jeanette and David. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward P. Cohan, in 2002.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Adult Day Services (formerly the Lutz Center), 138 Mohawk Road, Nevada City 95959.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
