Mary "Anne" Verna

A memorial service is planned for February in Grass Valley for Mary “Anne” Kinder Verna.

She died in Port Townsend, Wash., on Nov. 19.



She spent many years in the Bay Area before retiring from Stanford University Medical School and moving to Rough and Ready.

She enjoyed entertaining, traveling, and volunteer work at the Grass Valley Hospital and Friends of Hospice.




She is survived by her four children, Michael Kinder, Nancy Goldman, Mark Kinder, and Cyndi Kinder; and four grandchildren, Jenna, Alex, Katelyn and Jack.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, Calif. 91301-5104. Donations can also be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley, 95945.

Arrangements are by the Neptune Society of Lynnwood, Wash.
