Mary Adams

Mary Adams, 83, died Tuesday, March 29, in Winter Park, Fla.

She was born Ruth Mary Pickhardt in Peoria, Ill. She married Forrest Adams on Sept. 3, 1943 in Minnesota, and raised their eight children in Malibu. After her divorce, she moved to Manhattan Beach and worked for the UCLA Extension. In the late 1970s, she moved to Nevada County. She was instrumental in the founding of the Nevada County chapters of the League of Women Voters and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. She also worked for the Western Slopes Connection (a local newspaper). Mary enjoyed reading, writing, spending time in her garden and enjoying the beauty and diversity of Nevada County.

She is survived by her seven sons; and one daughter.
