Marvin Goodnight

Marvin G. “Marvie” Goodnight, 78, of Grass Valley died Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

Private family services were conducted in accordance with her wishes.



Mrs. Goodnight was born on Aug. 13, 1924, in Brookland, Ark., to John Love Turner and Maude Carrie Farrar. She graduated valedictorian of her class at Brookland High School in Brookland, Ark., in 1942. She married Clyde L. Goodnight on May 29, 1943, in Pine Bluff, Ark. She was involved in Little League and Boy Scouts. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, gardening, bridge and community service. She also enjoyed music, cooking and dancing with her husband, Clyde and playing her Hammond organ for guests.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Clyde L. Goodnight, of Grass Valley; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Engel Goodnight of Chugiak, Alaska, and Brad and Bonnie Goodnight of Grass Valley; and grandchildren, Kelly, Laurie, and Andrea Goodnight, all of Grass Valley, and Brittany and Tyler Goodnight, both of Chugiak, Alaska.




Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Hwy., Grass Valley 95945.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
