Martin Kilpela

A memorial service for Martin Kilpela of Grass Valley will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Angels, with the Rev. Richard O. Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth.

Mr. Kilpela died Wednesday, Aug. 7, in Grass Valley. He was 92.

He was born June 7, 1910, in Monessen, Pa., to Antti and Mari Heikkinen Kilpela. He attended school in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and married Anne Yagodich on May 30, 1943, in Pennsylvania. They lived in Van Nuys 45 years and in Grass Valley for nine years. He was retired from the heating and air conditioning business. He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling and playing pinochle.



Mr. Kilpela is survived by his wife, Anne Kilpela of Grass Valley; son, Eric Kilpela of Tarzana; daughter and son-in-law, Marianna and Terri Hemings of Grass Valley; grandson, Scott Hemings of Bethel, Conn.; granddaughter, Christina Hemings of Grass Valley; brother, Andrew Kilpela of Mentor, Ohio; and sister, Martha Kilpela of Buffalo, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Eino, Peter, Reino and George.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels.
