Martha Madeline Carolan died Feb. 8 at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. She



was 105.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, at St.




Canice Catholic Church in Nevada City.

Mrs. Carolan was born Jan. 25, 1903, in Waukegan, Ill. She is survived by

her son and daughter-in-law, Drs. John Carolan and Beatrice Berteau Carolan

of Nevada City; and her daughter, Pat Mickelson of Lake of the Pines.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Susan Mickelson of Lake of the

Pines; Craig Mickelson, his wife Deborah, and their daughters Elisabeth and

Michelle of Monument, Colo.; Kim Davis, her husband Tim and their son Garret

of Grass Valley; John Mickelson of San Francisco and by many dear friends,

especially Ethel Sumner and Myron Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Carolan II; mother and

father, Leontine and Emiel Van Landuyt; her two sisters and six brothers;

her son in law, David Mickelson and her grandson Jeff Mickelson. She enjoyed

ice skating, dancing, gardening, baking, sewing and reading. She was beloved

by all her family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
