Mark your calendar: The teddy bears are coming; Utah Phillips to perform for the community

April 10 Ð May 7 Gallery art show, Inspirations from the Forest, (the second annual) noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, at The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley. A reception will be April 19, 5-7 p.m., with welcoming remarks and awards at 6 p.m. Then on April 20 is Literature Alive’s Listening to the Wild, 7 p.m., with tickets for $12 adults and $8 for 17 and under available at Center for the Arts.

April 13-15 The 24th Annual International Teddy Bear Convention at Miners Foundry in Nevada City; Friday, noon-5 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Tickets, which are good all days and for returns are $5 for Seniors and $3 for students and are available at the door or by mail; kids under 12 and all bears get in for free. April 14 U. Utah Phillips, accompanied by Paul Emery, does his annual show for the community at The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley, 8 p.m. Tickets for $18 are available from the Center’s box office, 530-274-8384, ext. 14, at BriarPatch and The Book Seller in Grass Valley, Yabobo in Nevada City, Cherry Records in Auburn and online at http://www.thecenterforthearts.org; also at the door, if available. April 14 Step It Up 2007 will show films and have a rally for climate change solutions, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It starts at 10 a.m. at Del Oro Theater on Mill Street in Grass Valley; at noon, everyone proceeds to Condon Park for a rally. All is free. At least 14 nonprofit groups are participating. Call 470-8642 for more information.

April 26 The Sierra College Nevada County Campus Orchestra, directed by Stephen Miller, presents a Spring Concert at 7 p.m. at the Grass Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 12889 Osborne Hill Road in Grass Valley. Call Carol Cox, campus life coordinator, at 530-274-5291 for more information.
