Sept.18 – 21 the Draft Horse Classic and Harvest Fair in Grass Valley. Six arena performances, Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. For tickets to the arena, call the fair office at (530) 273-6217. On that Saturday, 1-4 p.m., the 15th Taste of the Gold Country includes 20 restaurants and wineries. Call the Grass Valley Downtown Association at (530) 272-8315 for information. Tickets are also available at all Citizens Bank locations in Nevada County, The Book Seller, Grass Valley and Nevada City Chamber.


Sept. 19 the Del Oro mural project will show the “hugely entertaining” movie “Bottle Shock,” 7 p.m. at the Del Oro Theatre, downtown Grass Valley to raise the remaining money needed to complete the project, which Truckee artist John Pugh is over half way through. Admission of $15 includes a wine tasting (the movie is based on a true story about wine) and a Q&A by the movie’s producers.


Sept. 27 and 28 the 12th Annual KVMR Celtic Festival & Marketplace at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, Grass Valley, a fundraising event for the station with 19 bands scheduled. Online at
