KVMR’s sixth annual Celtic Festival and Marketplace will be Sept. 13 and 14 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley.

Fairport Convention will perform Sept. 13; Wolfstone, Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill, and Wake the Dead will be among the acts on Sept. 14.

Admission is $25 in advance and $40 at the gate for both days. Friday only is $18 in advance and $20 at the gate; Saturday only is $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. There’s no admission for children 5 and younger.

Robert Fulghum’s “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” opens Sept. 13 at City Centre Playhouse.

The comedy-drama musical will also be presented Sept. 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28; and Oct. 4 and 5. Curtain time is 8 p.m.

Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and $12 for groups of 10 or more. Tickets are at the Book Seller and City Centre Playhouse, or by calling 477-1107.

The playhouse is at 127-A Bank St. in Grass Valley.

Four area bands – Offering to the Sun, Glimpse, Black Bear and Caller 9 – will perform in a benefit for Nevada City School of the Arts at the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building on Sept. 14.

The bands will share the bill from 5 to 10 p.m.

Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, and free for children age 10 and-under. Tickets are at Herb Shop Records, BriarPatch, Foggy Mountain Music and the door.
