Nov. 4 is the 12-hour Telethon “Day of Giving,” put on by NCTV (Channel 11). From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., both on TV and in person, the public can witness the entertainment and interviews that take place that day while pledging money to help 60 nonprofits in Grass Valley/Nevada City. Call 478-1174.


Nov. 3-12 is Music in the Mountains’ Classic, Jazz and Broadway Candlelight Concerts inside the Amaral Family Festival Center, Grass Valley. Tickets are $16-$27 for adult, $5 for youth 17 and under, and are available at the box office, 265-6123, or can be ordered online:


Nov. 24 & 25 is Empire Mine’s Holiday Open House at the park in Grass Valley. Admission is $3 for adults 17+, $1 for those 6-16. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contact 273-8522 and
