Majorie J. Casey of Grass Valley died May 31 in Nevada City. She was 78.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 9, at Kidder Cemetery in Grass Valley. The Rev. Andy Owens will officiate. Burial will take place at Kidder Cemetery.

Mrs. Casey was born June 16, 1929, in Nevada City to Theodore Deal and Adele Trevethick. She attended Nevada City High School and College of San Mateo. She married David H. Casey on Jan. 2, 1948.

Mrs. Casey was a homemaker. She was a den mother for the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed Bingo and garage and yard sales. She was the owner of “Once Again” antique store and of the “Curlette” beauty shop, and also was a caregiver.

Mrs. Casey is survived by her daughter, Patricia Casey of Ocala, Fla.; sons Kevin and Tim Casey, both of Sacramento; daughter-in-law, Robin Casey of Sacramento; grandchildren Nichole, Casey, Bryan, Michael, Shawn, Kirsy, and Shannon; great-grandchildren Aidan, Riley, Rowan and Brody; and niece and nephews from the Strehl, Clemo and Deal families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Casey; sisters Jackie Strehl and Joyce Clemo, and brother, Ted Deal.

Flowers may be sent to Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
