Marie Murphy

Graveside services for Marie Murphy of Grass Valley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley. Services will be officiated by Pastor Andy Owens.

Mrs. Murphy died Monday, April 24, in Grass Valley. She was 90.

She was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Fair Play, Mo., to Earl and Zota. She graduated form York High School in York, Neb. She married James O. Murphy on Aug. 4, 1937. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ventura for more than 35 years. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, and cooking.



She is survived by her children Richard and Betty Murphy of Grass Valley, Jim Murphy of Benton City, Wash., and Linda Murphy of Grass Valley; grandchildren Alisa and David Combs of Kennewick, Wash., Ben Murphy of Kirkland, Wash., Adam Murphy of Kennewick, Wash., Brian Murphy of Grass Valley, and Jennie and Eric Sparks of Grass Valley; great-grandchildren Shaun, Sierra and Sydney of Kennewick, Wash., brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jeanne Gilpin of Auburn; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Murphy in 1999; and brother, Harold Gilpin in 2005.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley 95945.
