Marguerite Conrad

Memorial services for Marguerite Conrad of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 12889 Osborne Hill Road in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Conrad died Thursday, June 10, in Grass Valley. She was 93.

She was born Nov. 3, 1910, in Roundup, Mont., to John J. Ross and Louise Lyke. She married Curtis Weaver in 1931 in Pullman, Wash., and then married Ray Conrad in March 1971 in Escondido.

She was the only female house painter in the Northwest from 1948 to 1969. She was a member of square dance clubs. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, growing flowers and plants. She was named Volunteer of the Year for 2003 by the Volunteer Action Center of Nevada County.

She is survived by her sons Jack Weaver of Lacy, Wash., and Leslie Weaver of Medford, Ore.; half-sister, Ruth Willette of Kent, Wash.; stepson, Warren Conrad of Grass Valley; stepdaughters Jackie Shiery of San Marcos and Ravolla Yann of Temecula; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Weaver, in 1990; husbands Curtis Weaver, and Ray Conrad in 1989.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Adult Day Services, 138 New Mohawk Road, Suite B1, Nevada City, 95959. Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
