Margaret Nygren

Margaret J. Nygren, 91, of Grass Valley died Friday, Feb. 4, in Grass Valley.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services.

Mrs. Nygren was born June 28, 1913, in Dodge City, Kan., to Delbert and Grace Havercroft. She was raised and attended school in Dodge City, Kan. She married Donald Nygren and they lived in San Francisco, until his retirement in the 1970s when they moved to Grass Valley. They were active in folk and square dance clubs in San Francisco and Grass Valley. She enjoyed sewing, hat making, cake decorating, and many other crafts. She was an avid seamstress and hat maker and made all the dance costumes she and her husband wore, plus the period dresses and hats she worse as a docent for the Empire Mines.



She is survived by her nephew, Russell Matthews of Auburn, Wash.; nieces Lynn Brzezinski of Lancaster and Joanna Linesay of Carmel; and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Nygren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
