David Ashley Birge, a 39-year-old landscaper from North San Juan, was booked at 1:08 Friday following a fight involving four Nevada County Officers.

Birge was charged with battering on a peace officer, possession of drugs and paraphernalia, obstructing and resisting an executive officer and use of a controlled substance.

Officers arrested him at a mobile home on the 14000 block of Grizzly Hill Road. Four officers were on the scene and had to use pepper spray to subdue Birge following 4 minutes of fighting that ended on the porch of the mobile home.

Officers were there to arrest him on previous charges, which included receiving stolen property, vandalism, resisting peace officer and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

Birge is being held at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on $55,000 bail.
