Madge Slaughter

Graveside services for Madge L. Slaughter of Sacramento will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley. Pastor Andy Owens will officiate the services.

Mrs. Slaughter died Sunday, Feb. 6, at home. She was 84.

She was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Nevada City, to Tony and Neva (Person) Pianezzi. She attended local schools including Nevada City High School, she graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Business Academy in 1937. She married Ted Slaughter on Nov. 22, 1948, in Reno, Nev. She began her career as a secretary working for the Nevada County Welfare Office. She left that job in 1948, when they moved to Sacramento, and she began working as a secretary for the state of California, retiring in 1970. She enjoyed reading.



She is survived by her husband, Ted Slaughter of Sacramento; sisters Claire Schance of Sacramento, and Helen Coponene of Atlantic Mine, Mich.; cousin, Donna Brust; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Anthony White.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
