Lyon’s Restaurant doors closed

Lyon’s Restaurant in Grass Valley was closed for business Thursday, but for how long and why is still unknown.

Acting on a tip, a reporter went to the back door of the restaurant at 12075 Nevada City Highway at 2 p.m. A middle-aged man emerged and said, “At the moment, the restaurant is closed,” declined to give his name, and went back indoors.

The front door of the restaurant was locked earlier in the day. The only vehicle in the front parking lot at 2 p.m. was a pickup truck backed into the handicapped parking space next to the front door.

Four other vehicles were parked in back and several people were inside the building, but it appeared there were no customers eating.

Earlier in the afternoon, a woman who answered the phone at the restaurant said, “I hate to say it, but we were told to say no comment,” and hung up before The Union could establish her identity.

Phone calls into the last known owner have yet to be returned to The Union.
