Lucia Robertson

Lucia “Lucy” Robertson died peacefully Aug. 6 in Grass Valley.

She will be cremated at Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City and her ashes will be scattered over Lake Tahoe. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home, 15631 Roving Way, Grass Valley, to honor her.

Born Lucia Bitker on June 29, 1929, in Yokohama, Japan, she spent most of her childhood in Shanghai, China. She moved with her family to the United States in 1947, eventually settling in San Francisco where she met her husband, Charles Robertson. They were married in 1949. After giving birth to their first child, they moved to the peninsula where their second child was born.

Lucy was active in the social scene at Peninsula Golf and Country Club, a devoted volunteer at Mills Memorial Hospital for over 25 years, and a tireless swim team mom. In 2003, she relocated with her family to Grass Valley where she enjoyed her retirement until her death.

Lucia’s grace and beauty touched many lives and she will be dearly missed.

Lucia is survived by her son, Bruce; daughter, Andie and son-in-law, Terry; grandchildren Vince (Connie), Dawn-Marie and Jessica, and great-grandchildren Lilly and Vinny.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1975.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice of the Foothills, and request that any memorial donations be made to them.
