Lovett Recovery Center honored with dinner, dance

The Union staff

Lovett Alumni Association, which has promoted clean and sober living for 12 years, will sponsor a day-long celebration Saturday honoring Lovett Recovery Center.

Saturday’s celebration includes a 3 p.m. barbecue dinner, a 4 p.m. open mike for anyone wishing to speak about the center and a 5 p.m. dance.

Admission for both the dinner and dance is $8, or $5 for just the barbecue or the dance. Tickets are half-price for children under 12.

The Lovett Recovery Center is at 145 Bost Ave. in Nevada City.

For more information, call Lovett Recovery Center at 265-9045.

March in parade with Business and Professional Women

Although the Nevada City Constitution Day Parade is three months away (Sept. 12), it’s not too early to sign up for a spot to march with the Northern Mines Business and Professional Women.

Any woman who wishes to portray a suffragist in the parade should call the organization’s Lynn Wenzel at 470-0360 or e-mail to reserve a spot.

Group members will work together on costumes.
