Lorraine Smith obituary

A celebration of life for Lorraine Jeanette Smith of Lake of the Pines will be conducted at a later date.

Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 28. She was 79.

She was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Anyox, B.C., Canada. She graduated from Berkeley High School in 1944. She served with the U.S. Marines during World War II. She worked at the Oakland Tribune and the Oakland Housing Authority for many years.



She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Gerald A. Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Kathie A. and Jim Overman of Fremont; son and daughter-in-law, Donald G. and Debra Doran of Pahoa, Hawaii; son, Daniel W. Doran of Santa Cruz; stepdaughter, Stephanie A. Hutchens of Greensboro, N.C.; stepson, David A. Smith of Fremont; and grandchildren Jennifer Turner and family of Oakland, Joshua Overman and Tiffany Indorante of Fremont, Marley Doran of Honolulu, Hawaii, Scott Wangsness and family of Quebec, Canada, Jennifer Hutchens and family of High Point, N.C., Julie Delesdernier and family of Charlotte, N.C., and Jillian Hutchens of Raleigh, N.C.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, The American Cancer Society or Auburn Hospice.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
