Lorine Johnson

Services for Lorine A. Johnson of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Trinity United Methodist Church, 285 E. Fifth St. in Chico.

Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, Feb. 16, in a Grass Valley medical facility. She was 81.



She was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Susanville to Alfred and Hildur Anderson. She lived in Chico from 1952 until moving to Grass Valley in January. She married Alfred L. Johnson in 1947.




She graduated from the nursing program at Samuel Merritt Hospital in Oakland, and was a U.S. Army nurse until her discharge in 1945. She worked for many years in the office of Dr. Emery Leivers in Chico.

She is survived by her son, the Rev. Richard O. Johnson of Grass Valley; daughters Victoria K. Butterfield of San Jose and Susan A. Landesman of Salinas; sisters Alfreda Cunningham of Chico and Lucile King of Alameda; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992.

Memorial contributions can be made to Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley or Hospice of the Foothills.
