Loretta Brown

Memorial services for Loretta “Kit” Brown of Grass Valley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Burial will be at the Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City.

Mrs. Brown died Sunday, Aug. 8, in Grass Valley. She was 75.

She was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Mobridge, S.D., to Karl and Martha (Sieler) Brockel. She married Ronald “Brownie” Brown on Nov. 20, 1944, in Reno, Nev. They owned and operated their own Christmas tree farm. She was a member of the Elks Ladies of Nevada City, the Red Hat Society and the Nevada City Goldancers. She enjoyed sewing, doll making, gardening, furniture restoration, square dancing, RV camping and fishing.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and John Keenan of Saratoga; and grandsons Mike Keenan and Harley Brown, both of Sacramento. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Brown, in January 2004, and son, Craig Brown, in 1999.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
