Lorain McAvoy

Services for Lorain McAvoy of Grass Valley will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Clovis Funeral Chapel in Clovis. Burial will take place at Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno.

Mrs. McAvoy died Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. She was 80.

She was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Pryor, Okla., to George Branstetter and Missouri Ann Collier. She graduated from Merced High School. She married Robert J. McAvoy on Nov. 27, 1993, at St. Helen’s Church in Fresno. She was a retired grocery checker and apartment manager. She enjoyed listening to religious music and playing the slots at Reno.



She is survived by her husband, Robert J. McAvoy of Grass Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Kenneth Holman of Clovis; granddaughters Bridgett and Celeste Holman both of Clovis; great-grandchildren Heather and Cody Tomasetti both of Clovis; step-sister, Lilli Long of Kerman; and niece, Louise Pederson of Kerman.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
