Yuba state park docent classes set

South Yuba River State Park is accepting applications for spring docent-training classes to be held at the Bridgeport Visitors Center.

Free courses covering wildlife biology, archeology, local history, visitors center operation, natural history and more are offered. Volunteers learn about wildlife photography, bird and wildflower identification, gold panning, trail patrolling and helping visitors.

Volunteers can work at the visitor center, do history research, be part of the oral history program, or participate in “living history” presentations.

For applications or more information, call a park ranger at Bridgeport at 432-2546 or fax 432-4182.

Applications can also be obtained at the Gold Mines Sector Office at 10556 E. Empire St., Grass Valley, or by phoning 273-3884.

The deadline for applying is March 1. Classes run March 9 through May 11.
