‘Writing to Heal’ workshop set

The Sierra Nevada Cancer Center is sponsoring a spring writing workshop for cancer patients, survivors, their caregivers and families.

The workshop is a series of eight classes called “Writing to Heal,” which will be taught by Nevada City poet Molly Fisk. The series begins on Thursday, March 18, and runs each Thursday through May 6. Classes meet from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Outpatient Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. A fee of $20 covers the series.

Fisk explains that the key to using writing to heal is to write about events while simultaneously drawing on emotions to embellish the bare facts. She has developed a process that she says makes this kind of writing fun.

For more information, call Fisk at 470-0188; to register, call Debby Kirk at 274-6872.
