Who’s to blame for expensive gasoline?

I winced while topping off my gas tank, $52.20 for 12 gallons. Ouch! I started thinking, how did gas become so expensive?

Was it the oil companies, speculators or our own failure as a country to become independent of foreign sources? Are these foreign sources our friends or is it in their best interests to jack up the price of a barrel of oil? Is it simply supply and demand? Which political party has got us into this mess? Which political party has the best plan for getting us out of this financial crisis?

It is clear to me that we are long overdue to provide for our own energy needs. We need to drill for our own oil, build nuclear power plants, more gas-efficient cars, and more solar produced energy.

We are making progress in everything but gasoline production. The U.S. gas production has gone down 40 percent in the last 10 years but we will be dependent on gasoline for many years to come.

So when you cast your ballot in this year’s election, consider which party you really think can lead us into the future where we will be energy independent.
