Welcoming the holidays: Victorian Christmas brings thousands to Nevada City
Nevada City’s annual holiday tradition once again brought thousands of visitors to downtown during the inaugural Victorian Christmas street fair of 2018 on Sunday afternoon.
Hundreds of unique craft and item vendors lined Broad Street while Christmas gift shoppers, many dressed in traditional Victorian garb, hunted for their favorite shopping gifts while the going was good.
Pamela Devine, who operates the craft booth Devine Gifts, still had some of her hand-crafted masks available by the end of the night, but many of her hats had already flown off the racks.
“I’m really known for my hats,” Devine said.
Devine has been a staple vendor of the ever popular street faire for the past 17 years.
Elsewhere during the event, folks could be seen taking photos with jolly St. Nick, sipping hot mulled wine, enjoying some of the many street entertainers, and enjoying the company of others.
Victorian Christmas returns 5-9 p.m. Wednesdays on Dec. 12 and Dec. 19 and 1:30-6 p.m. Sundays, Dec. 16 and Dec. 23.
