Weekend of Giving to benefit Hospitality House in Nevada County
For the eighth year, Mikail Graham presents three holiday concerts featuring top talent from all corners of Nevada County to benefit Hospitality House. Formerly known as A Night of Giving, this year Graham has morphed this unique event into three, hence the new title, “A Weekend Of Giving: A Benefit for Hospitality House.”
“After seven years of having this event in Nevada City, I felt it was time to change things up a bit and see how we could reach out to even more of the entire community,” Graham said.
Musician/producer Graham is a third-generation native of Nevada City and a founding broadcaster of KVMR. He has been coordinating musical events since the early 1970s and plays with several local bands.
Friday night’s happening will take place at a new venue, The Other House, off Hughes Road in Grass Valley. It will cater to younger music lovers, with bands such as TV Stones, Coal Beautiere, The Moore Brothers and Aaron Ross.
Saturday’s main giving event will be held for the first time at The Center For The Arts in Grass Valley. It will showcase a diverse lineup of Nevada County performers, such as Lorraine Gervais and her Motown Revue, the Earles of Newtown, Molly Fisk, Paige Anderson and the Fearless Kin, and too many others to mention.
At the Saturday show, food will be available for $5 a plate from 6-7:30 p.m. or as long as the food lasts. All proceeds will benefit Hospitality House. Drinks of all sorts will be offered at a no-host bar.
Sunday’s program will take place at Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley, with a holiday classics program featuring the InConcert Sierra Master Chorale, former Music In The Mountains conductor and founder Paul Perry, Rod Baggett and the NUHS Choir and Daniel Zuckerman and Friends, plus excerpts from MIM’s Young Composers and more.
All proceeds from each event will go directly to benefit Hospitality House, the community shelter for homeless people in Nevada County. This is a great family holiday event with music starting at 5 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday, and running nonstop both days until 10 p.m. Sunday’s program is 2-5 p.m.
Hospitality House is a nonprofit organization built on a coalition of faith groups, community organizations, volunteers and local business people.
A suggested donation for advance tickets is $20. Children ages 12 and younger get in free. Tickets for all events will be available at Briar Patch Co-op, Tickets for the Saturday event are also available online at http://www.thecenterforthearts.org.
