Watch out for the wind

Despite a steady rain, a courtesy clerk at Grocery Outlet in Grass Valley collects carts in the parking lot Thursday afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a high-wind watch for western Nevada County and much of Central California today, ranging from Redding, south to Turlock, and from the Sierra foothills to the Pacific Coast. Gusty winds from the south and southeast are forecast, with rain likely today and less likely tonight and with highs near 46 degrees and lows around 35. The weather service also issued a snow advisory for the higher elevations along the entire Sierra Nevada Range. That means travelers should be prepared with chains, water, warm clothing and blankets.
