Vigil protests violence in Middle East

The Palestine-Israel Working Group of Nevada County (PIWG) invites the community to join its Women and Men in Black Vigil 5:15-6 p.m. Thursday, July 17, on the Broad Street Bridge in Nevada City to protest the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Hundreds of human rights groups and thousands of citizens around the world are calling for an immediate end to the collective punishment and illegal siege by Israel of the Palestinian people of Gaza.

According to Reuters, as of Sunday morning, 170 Gazans were reported killed, of which 130 were civilians, and 30 were children. Approximately 1,000 people were reported injured. These numbers are out of date before they are written as the bombs continue to saturate the 137 square mile area with a population of 1.8 million, of whom more than half are children.

Wear black if you can, bring your own sign or use one provided by PIWG.
