Firefighters on Sunday continued their investigation into a Banner Quaker Hill Road fire that forced a family to jump from their second floor as flames engulfed their home.

Authorities responded to the fire, in the 1500 block of Banner Quaker Hill Road, early Saturday. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in an hour and took the next two hours to completely extinguish it, said Josh Sunde, battalion chief with the Nevada County Consolidated Fire District.

“When I got there, it was a fully involved structure,” Sunde said. “They had to jump from the second floor to get out of the way of the fire.”

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Firefighters kept the blaze from growing beyond the house it destroyed. Some nearby vegetation was burned, though no other structures were damaged, Sunde said.
