Veterans’ family wellness program begins

Welcome Home Vets will be starting the Veterans’ Family Wellness four-week series beginning Tuesday.

The series will cover topics including PTSD, TBI and military-related psychological trauma; military culture and the warrior spirit; alcohol, drugs and codependency; and medications.

All classes are held on Tuesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Welcome Home Vets’ office, 248 Mill St., Grass Valley.



Welcome Home Vets provides a healing community where veterans, active duty military and their families feel understood and valued. Welcome Home Vets contracts with local providers of psychological services who are competent in both psychotherapy and military culture to provide individual, group, family and peer-based services.

Welcome Home Vets also provides advocacy for veterans and their families, and works to increase community awareness of the problem of military- related psychological trauma and its effects on the veteran, the family and the community.

Summer Reading Program Celebration Party on July 30

The final free event for the Summer Reading Program in western Nevada County will be held on Wednesday. Wild Things will bring their rescued wild animals to the backyard of the Grass Valley Library Royce Branch at 11 a.m. and to the Gene Albaugh Community Room at the Madelyn Helling Library at 2 p.m.
