Venom and Broad Brushes |

Venom and Broad Brushes

I can relate to Editor Ackerman’s lament that sometimes he just gets tired of the noise.

I relate particularly from the cacophony of venom and indictments by those who profess loyalty to our constitution while utilizing a broad brush to paint all those of the Muslim faith as terrorists.

The venomous struggle to move an Islamic Cultural Center near the Twin Towers atrocity in order to honor the dead is a distraction.

Obviously those terrorists who planned and executed the 9/11 murders perverted the Holy Koran. As with all crimes, they should be punished to the full extent of the law. I would like to see an interfaith-based center close by to demonstrate we are a secular nation that embraces all people of goodwill.

Broad brushes are wrong and are persuasive that the pre-judging of all Muslims exposes constitutional ignorance and violation of our nation’s core values.

For 50 years I have worked with Muslims from the U.S., Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa. They, as do I, abhor the pseudo-Islamic zealot murderers.

Please reread our Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution with appreciation and thought.
