(Updated) Fire reported on property in Colfax area: railroad reopens, most road closures uplifted

Firefighters from area agencies responded to a fire in the Colfax area Friday afternoon.

The vegetation blaze, which Cal Fire was reported to be between 7-8 acres in size near Tokayana Road and Barnes Lane.

Cal Fire official said fire units made good progress in containing the blaze. As of 5 p.m., all road closures in the area had been lifted except Jans Lane. The Union Pacific Railroad has also resumed business.



Two engines, two airtankers, two helicopters, nine handcrews and two dozers were dispatched to battle the fire.

It was not clear at press deadline how much of the fire was contained, while firefighters dealt with multiple spot fires.




The fire ignited around 12:23 p.m., a Cal Fire official said, and no structural damages or injuries reported.

Cal Fire said they are still working to determine a cause.
