UPDATE: Lanes opened on Highway 174 after downed trees cause traffic

A tree fell on power lines near Empire Mine, causing Highway 174 to close Tuesday morning.

Update: Lanes on Highway 174 have opened after the clearing of fallen trees.

Highway 174 has been closed at East Empire Street and Colfax Avenue due to downed trees into power lines.

The hazard was reported at 10:49 a.m. on the California Highway Patrol website.

The road was blocked by the downed trees, which had hit power lines, according to the website. The CHP was blocking the road as of 11 a.m.
