UPDATE: Auburn blaze contained, 1 building damaged

Firefighters on Friday quickly contained a 13-acre blaze northwest of Auburn that damaged one building but caused no reported injuries, Cal Fire said.

Firefighters responded around 11:45 a.m. to the fire near Vista Bella Drive and Big Hill Road, about eight miles from Higgins Corner. They stopped the vegetation fire from spreading around 1 p.m., and completely contained it about 30 minutes later.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The fire damaged a residence in the area. The area is mainly vegetation, with the one damaged home nearby.

Several units responded to the blaze, including helicopters and airplanes that used retardant on the flames. All aircraft had left by 2:45 p.m.
