Upcoming: KARE Affaire to benefit local families and children

The KARE (“Kids Assistance and Respite in Emergencies”) Crisis Nursery has scheduled KARE Affaire, a fundraiser gala dinner and celebrity costume fashion show and auction, for 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the 200-acre Rincon Del Rio Estate on the Bear River.

Appetizers and a hosted bar on the river patio precede a catered dinner with wine.

The evening will be capped off by desserts and a silent auction at the estate home, followed by 11 locals modeling costumes (just in time for Halloween) on the pool deck.

The “models” include Phil Starr of Sierra Starr Winery, Annie O’Dea Hestbeck (Celtic DJ), Supervisor Ed Scofield and Father Seth Kellerman.

The costumes will also be auctioned off.

The emcee is Carol Scofield, with Jay Cooper as the auctioneer.

Proceeds benefit KARE Crisis Nursery, a home where families under stress can bring their small children for respite or emergency child care when no other resources are available to them.

Admission costs $75 and includes all food and beverages. A table of 10 can be purchased for $500.
