Union employee hit by car

An employee in The Union’s packaging department was seriously injured Thursday night when she was hit by a car in downtown Grass Valley.

At 5:57 p.m., Lauri Polmanteer was crossing South Auburn Street near Bank Street when a car struck her, Grass Valley police said.

The driver told police she had not seen Polmanteer crossing the road.

Polmanteer, a packaging clerk at The Union for more than five years, was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Her condition was unavailable Thursday night.
